| I have a Z that I had not driven much in the past few years (bought it in 2001), changed out a few things to get it going again and get back on with my restoration project. It is a 1990 TT. I replaced the entire engine in 2003 (JDM) and at that time had the wiring harness replaced (thanks Coz!). Now, I can't turn the actual key in the drivers side door, and can turn the passenger side door with some difficulty. I drove the Z for a couple of days, and then started playing with the door locks. Now when I try to start the door the starter clicks one time and EVERYTHING dies. Its like the entire car had the electricity zapped from it. No lights, clock, door chime, anything. I am hypothesizing that the factory alarm (or an aftermarket one which I had put on so that I would have remote door openers) is tripping and preventing the car from starting. Does that sound right to folks? Any recommended testing strategy to follow? (IE, disable factory alarm, etc) Or should I just have the car towed to a dealership for them to try and diagnose? My mechanical expertise on this car has been limited to changing the master brake cylinder, rotors, calipers, brake pads and fluids. I am learning, but have never really had anyone teach me first hand (I read posts here, watch some youtube vidoes, etc). Thanks!
